Fox Racing – Ranger MTB Short In for Review

When I spoke to the guys over at Fox Racing a couple of weeks ago about doing an apparel review, they said they had the perfect short in mind. Sure enough, about a week later…a package showed up on my front doorstep with a pair of the Fox Racing Ranger MTB shorts ready for review.

A Little Bit More About Fox Racing

Fox Racing is known for providing laundry list of items for multiple action sports communities. You will see their logos grace products that are geared towards everything from wake boarding to mountain biking to motocross. They also do an incredible job of self branding and sell an enormous amount of causal wear from hats to t-shirts.

Around the mountain biking community, they are best known for their sister company Fox Racing Shox for providing some of the best suspension components in the industry. The Fox Racing clothing lineup for mountain bikers caters to the all mountain, freeride, downhill crowd with wild and baggier designs. If you are looking for added protection on the trail…Fox Racking has you covered there too with a complete lineup of pads to protect you from the ground or tree that you will eventually hit by getting in over your head. I have even reviewed their latest entry into the mountain biking realm with their Fox Flux helmet. When it comes to Fox Racing, they really try to take care of you from all angles of the sport.

  • Our top selling baggy short with some great upgrades
  • Zippered fly with fixed inner liner
  • Inner liner features high performance RIDE chamois

Initial Thoughts on the Fox Racing Ranger

Out of the box, I was not entirely sold on the pattern on these brown shorts. Luckily, there are two other color options (as seen below), so if you are not crazy about the look…you have other options. The outer shell is a very light polyester that should be durable enough for heavy trail use but light enough not to feel like a trash bag in the heat. The adjustments for your waist size are made easily and these shorts from Fox Racing are available in sizes 30-42 instead of the typical s/m/l/xl…so you should be able to get them to fit perfectly.

With several pockets and conventional hand pockets, the Ranger MTB shorts are versatile enough for my needs and could be used for commuting if needed. Mountain biking shorts are something I am pretty particular about, so I am going to continue to put this set from Fox Racing through some serious trail abuse over the coming weeks. Stay tuned to hear more on the Fox Racing Ranger MTB shorts as I get some saddle/trail time on them.
