Last week, we asked you guys what area of mountain biking you call home. While a lot of us explore different disciplines of mountain biking, there is normally one style that when given the chance to ride…we generally prefer and really feel like we are in our element.
The choices for the poll were as follows:
- XC/XC Racing
- Trail (1-2 foot drops max)
- All Mountain (Technical riding with drops up to 4 feet)
- Downhill
- Freeride
- Dirt Jump
The Poll Results
The results of this poll were surprising…but not at the same time. I fully expected “Trail” to win by a landslide. With the evolution of the 5.5″ trail bike, more riders are able to enjoy more technical trail with lighter, more capable suspension bikes. What I was not expecting was “All Mountain” taking up so much ground over “XC/XC Racing”. I personally thought XC would come in second. Given this current information from you guys, it looks like bringing in bikes like the Specialized Stumpjumper EVO is falling right in line with what you want to see reviewed.
The other interesting part about this poll is the fact that 10 years ago…we didn’t have this many options. The amount of variance between riding styles now is unbelievable. We have more options now than ever and that is only going to get better with time as technology continues to evolve and the sport continues to grow. Bike choices used to be extremely limited and pretty much all the same. Now…with different suspension designs, travel and weight, we are able to shred whatever style of trail we call home with greater confidence than ever before.
