What is collected, and when
Automatically, when you visit
Like most websites, Bike198 records technical information as pages are served: IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, and timestamps. This comes from the web server and from security, caching, or delivery services sitting in front of the site. It is used to keep the site working and to defend it against abuse. It is not used to build a marketing profile of you.
Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics (often connected through Site Kit by Google) to understand which articles people read and how they found them. It may record pages viewed, approximate location from IP, device and browser, and how you arrived. Analytics cookies are covered by the consent banner where that banner is active. You can also use Google’s browser opt-out add-on.
Cookie consent
A cookie consent tool may store a small record of what you agreed to so you are not asked on every page.
Comments
If you leave a comment, WordPress stores the name, email, website (if any), comment text, IP address, and browser user-agent. Email is not published. Comments may be screened for spam by a filter such as Akismet. Ask and we will delete your comment where reasonably possible.
Email and forms
If you email or submit a contact form, we receive your address and message and use them to reply. We do not add you to a mailing list unless you explicitly subscribe to one.
Affiliate links
Some outbound product links are affiliate links, including Amazon. Clicking one hands you off to the retailer, who may set a cookie so a purchase can be credited to this site. That cookie belongs to the retailer. We may be told that a sale happened and roughly what category it was in not who you are. Full detail is on the Affiliate Disclosure page.
Who your information goes to
Hosting, security, caching, analytics, spam filtering, consent tools, and affiliate retailers process data to run the site or as their own controllers. Beyond that, information is disclosed only where the law requires it. Personal information is not sold, rented, or traded.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email rsutton1223@gmail.com. We aim to respond within 30 days. If you are in the UK or EU, you may also have rights to object, restrict processing, portability, and to complain to a supervisory authority. California and other U.S. state laws may give additional rights; declining non-essential cookies in the banner is the practical control for many advertising/analytics cookies.
Children
Bike198 is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
