This photo done by Tom VH really reminded me of the feeling you get when hammering the flats on an XC mountain biking trail just before gravity is about to assist as you make your way to a downhill. That anticipation for the next twisty, flowy section in between the trees and the load you place on your legs trying to get there is fast as possible…is the experience of getting ready for the next descent.

The tires start ripping dirt and rocks…your heart rate climbs…and then when you finally get there…the freewheel of your hub is all you hear as you get pointed down. Wind, dirt and focus is all that is left.

I founded Bike198 back in 2008 and started riding bikes seriously in 1994. A lot has changed since that time and one of the greatest releases is still getting out on the bike and shredding trail or tearing up the road.
