A Tribute to “RAD” – Braydon Bringhurst Throws Down at Bentonville

RAD was one of the best BMX movies of all time. It has become a cult classic over the years and is true to the BMX culture of the mid 1980’s. If you haven’t watched it yet…put it on the list. Every cyclist should at least see it once.

Braydon Bringhurst decided to make a video with Canyon bikes that paid homage to the film with some awesome flat land riding mixed with trail riding that is nothing short of just awesome. With the mid 80’s synthesizers in the background and a cameo by Bill Allen who played “Cru Jones” in the original movie.

Check out Bringhurst’s video above and the RAD trailer below.

The 1980’s cult-classic BMX movie “RAD” is paid homage by professional mountain bike rider Braydon Bringhurst. “BRAYD” is a tribute video to “RAD” that showcases Bringhurst’s innovative riding style—as inspired by the original film featuring Bill Allen as “Cru Jones”. “

I have loved ‘RAD’ since I was a little kid,” says Bringhurst, “The story of an underdog BMX racer that finally succeeds—winning the biggest race in the world, Helltrack—always resonated with me.” Showcasing scenes akin to the qualifying race footage from the original movie, “BRAYD” features 1980s-throwback-style riding—including classic flatland-BMX tricks, turnbars, backflips (originally known as “air walks”) and power wheelies. “I hope people who watch my tribute video get the same inspiration that ‘RAD’ originally gave me as a child,” says Bringhurst, “To be simply inspired to get out, ride, and have fun on your bike.” With that said, and in the words of Cru Jones, “Okay, dudes! Let’s walk this sucker!”
