3G iPhone and Mountain Biking

apple iphone 3g 21So what does the 3G iPhone from Apple have to do with mountain biking? More than I even imagined thanks to Milliron.

On our recent ride at Raccoon Mountain, Jason had his brand new iPhone along for the trip. During the ride, he was able to take pictures, upload them to flickr.com and post them on his Twitter account with ease. Now, I thought I was ahead of the curve with the Blackberry Curve and all of its capabilities, but the new iPhone looks like it has a lot of benefits for internet junkies of all disciplines. The way he was able to easily update his web life on the go was very intriguing. He was even able to show pictures of a build I am working on with other riders!  Maybe one day soon I will be able to upload posts, video and pictures to the blog while on the trail. That would be a true web 2.0 experience.

Apple sold over 1 million 3G iPhones in the first weekend. That is unheard of for a cell phone. It took 74 days to achieve that same feat on the first generation. I have been using Macs for as long as I can remember. I have actually never owned a Windows based computer (I have company owned ones), so it is really exciting to see the iPhone break what we consider normal cell phone usage.

How many of you made the switch to the new 3G iPhone over the weekend?
