North Shore is on the bucket list. While most of the videos you see are of the skinnies in the area…there is a lot of awesome tech trail that rarely gets featured. I remember the line in Follow Me from Thomas Vanderham when he talked about it specifically stating that he didn’t ride the skinnies…he wanted the technical trail.
Steve Vanderhoek put together this edit this week featuring the 5th Horseman Trail which is a SUPER STEEP tech trail with some great drops and gaps. We all know that video loves to flatten steep trail and it still looks crazy steep in this video! He does some great riding on possibly one of the best tech trails on the planet. Check it out.
5th Horseman! A true Shore classic and one of my favourite trails around. Starting with flow and ending in tech makes for a brilliant lap every time. I first rode this trail when I was probably 15 years old with Ken Maude (OG Shore legend and one of the owners of Lynn Valley Bikes) when my Dad hired him to give me lessons as I was all balls and no skill and kept crashing! Fast forward to 31 and I wanted to try and ride it like i never have before…pulling for some fresh gaps. Definitely some inspiration from my most recent shoots with Remy Metailler. I founded Bike198 back in 2008 and started riding bikes seriously in 1994. A lot has changed since that time and one of the greatest releases is still getting out on the bike and shredding trail or tearing up the road.
