This photo by couloir was picked for this week’s photo of the week out of the Bike198 Flickr pool for one very short reason (outside of being a great picture)…

It reminded me of that crisp, cool air you get in the morning during a spring or fall ride. When the birds are chirping in the background, the soil is tacky and the air your breathing in just seems to breed power to your legs. Gone is the humidity of  summer or the cold of winter. All that is left is pure energy and the sound of your tires eating up the soil. On these days…you feel like you can just ride forever.

Right now in the southeast United States, we are bleeding for a morning like this to escape the heat, humidity and dust of August/September riding. Every now and then, we get a short hour glimpse of lower temperatures in the morning as a tease of what is to come. As soon as I saw this picture in the Bike198 stream, it brought me right back to that quality air that makes you not want to get off the bike.

I founded Bike198 back in 2008 and started riding bikes seriously in 1994. A lot has changed since that time and one of the greatest releases is still getting out on the bike and shredding trail or tearing up the road.
